  1. Hogbear is an adventure game fashioned after the game of CASTLE.  We have 
  2. added what we feel are interesting twists to the game.  The monsters 
  3. can be reincarneted at random.  If you quit the game without saving 
  4. it, when you restart the game all the treasures and weapons needed 
  5. to kill the monsters are relocated in the rooms (the furniture is 
  6. left, just the ARTICALS are moved).  This can lead to an unwinnable 
  7. game (Maybe), if the monster and the weapon needed to kill them 
  8. end up in the same room.  If you are fast enough you might win.  
  9. Then again you might not.

  11. The directions for play are contained in a file named MANUAL.DOC. 
  12. This file is ready to print, just enter the command PRINT MANUAL.DOC.
  13. You will need two pages for the manual.

  15. You have gotten this far. Take a minute to be sure that your disk
  16. contains the following files:

  18. HOGBEAR2.EXE    The Game

  20. HOGBEAR.PIC     The only picture ever made of the dreaded HOGBEAR
  21.  
  22. END. PIC    Win the game and this is your reward

  24. *.SCR (9 FILES)    USED BY THE HOGBEAR TO GET THINGS STARTED. 
  25.         MUST BE IN DIRECTORY OR ON DISK
  26.         WITH HOGBEAR FOR GAME TO PLAY.

  29. READBEAR.1ST    THIS FILE

  31. HOGBEAR creates and destroys a file on your disk with the extension
  32. .FIL   <filename.FIL> .  We recomend that you install HOGBEAR on its
  33. own disk or sub-directory where there are no other files with this 
  34. same extension, as they will be destroyed also.  This game can be played
  35. by only one person per disk or sub-directory at a time.  If you let 
  36. someone else play your disk, your game progress will be lost.

  38. This game is placed in distribution as SHAREWARE.  This means if you 
  39. play the game and like it we expect you to tell us about it with 
  40. MONEY.  We ask a modest donation of $10.00 to show us that you appreciate 
  41. our efforts. We will work harder to produce a better version "REAL SOON 
  42. NOW", the more people we hear from. This donation to our worthy cause 
  43. will entitle you to one upgrade as soon as it is finished.

  45. We have tested the game for several months using many testors.  We 
  46. realize that try as we might we may have left some unforseen 
  47. anomolies in the game.  If you find a strange or unusual occurence 
  48. (BUG!!!) while playing the game leave a message on COMPUSERV  
  49. 73377,1345 or GENIE k.seal.

  51. Please feel free to place this game (in its entirety ) on any bulletin
  52. board where you feel others copy it and enjoy it. That is the purpose of
  53. HOGBRARC.EXE a self-extracting archive file perfect for uploading to a
  54. bulliten board, or passing to a friend.
